Flooring maintenance for high-traffic corridors
Corridors see constant footfall, equipment movement and spills. With the right maintenance plan, floors remain safe and attractive.
1. Choose durable, low-VOC products
Select wear-layer-rated LVT, homogeneous vinyl sheeting or castor-chair rated carpet tiles to resist scuffs and dents.
2. Prevent dirt at entrances
Install entrance matting to trap grit and moisture before it reaches corridors. This reduces cleaning load and wear.
3. Cleaning schedule
- Daily dry mopping or vacuuming
- Weekly damp mopping with neutral cleaner (vinyl/LVT)
- Spot clean spills immediately
4. Protect high-wear zones
Use chair glides, protectors and runners where trolleys pass frequently. Rotate carpet tiles in extreme wear lanes.
5. Plan for downtime
Schedule deeper maintenance during low-traffic times or holidays to minimise disruption.
